Knypersley Reservoir
07 October 2023
An old haunt for sure but there's plenty I've not seen before!
Recently, some total degenerate has taken a chainsaw to one of the most famous trees in the World, at Sycamore Gap next to Hadrians Wall in Northumberland National Park. Whilst flying the drone around I spotted this felled tree (likely as a result of the wind in this case) in a set of ponds next to the reservoir and it immediately reminded me of Sycamore Gap.
Warder's Lodge at Knypersley Reservoir
Alternatively known as Knypersley Tower and Warder's Tower, this is a gamekeeper’s cottage in the form of a miniature castle of red sandstone built in 1828/9. It overlooks the eastern shore of Knypersley reservoir to the west and had a commanding position over the steep slope down to the Head of Trent leat to the east. The Harrison family lived in the Lodge in the 1830s and it was still occupied into the 20th century.
I wanted to revisit a long exposure of a waterfall I first took during the initial days of the Covid pandemic, but due to too many walkers getting in the way I had to move further upstream and take something else...
and last of all...
we have a somewhat phallic rock...
and that's it!
